Retiring, kind of

I'm not going to be updating this part of my website/blog anymore. My time travel series has been sort of folded in to my paranormal series, which I hope to publish in 2023-24. If I do return to TT, it will be as part of that series.

So I'll leave this here as a place holder!

Time travel ... not this time

I wrote the last book in the 9 book series; I want to write one more to make it a 14 book series (all total). So I'm putting time travel on the back burner.

Except I haven't, really. The time travel books already out will fit into the series I'm working on.

So once that wraps up, I'll write the penultimate time travel book and truly tie it all together.

She said hopefully ...

Working out the details

I'm working on the Dream Series books -- hoping to wrap up writing the first 9 books this year. I believe I have all the time travel elements accounted for, but when I finish writing, I may take a month and re-read EVERYTHING to make sure it hangs together.

But I have one more time travel book I'd really love to write...maybe do that one first?

We'll see....

End of the year wrap-up

I went back through my TT books and tweaked them to include little hints about my Paranormal world and my Endless American Dream world -- yay, me!

Now I have to work on the business end of it -- the editing, publishing, and uploading of new versions. That's going to have to wait until next year, I think. I have a new job starting soon and I need to focus on that.

Someday, it'll all come together. I've got it all straight in my head -- I hope!

So much fun -- so little time!

I found a way to tie in the History Patrol with the Celestial Service (you don't know about that one. I haven't published those books yet). Then I'll tie it all in to the Dream Series and ultimately tie it into the New Human Paranormal books.

Yep. One big happy universe! Stay tuned.

Exciting ideas are percolating

I just finished a book in a new series (The Celestial Service) and I figured a way to tie it in to the History Patrol -- win! It's an idea I had about the guardian angels in the Patrol and how I can write their stories and tie them to the Patrol.

I'm going to work on this whole concept next year, and I hope in 2020 I'll have a revamped History Patrol series, with another trilogy of books about their guardian angels.

Keep your fingers crossed -- there's a lot thinking going on!

Diverted, but drafting

I'm still working on my paranormal series, but I've been jotting down little chunks of scenes, ideas for the next book, and thoughts about how to tie the whole time-travel universe together.

The current dystopian feeling in the world helps a lot, which I guess shouldn't be a surprise. Who wouldn't like to time travel right now?

I'm tentatively hoping to revisit this series in the fall of this year. I have 2 other books to write before then, though, so we'll see!

Still diverted

I'm working on mysteries and my paranormal series right now, which leaves precious little time for time travel (ha. A pun). However, I do occasionally come back and revisit the next TT I want to write. Now and again I write a scene that I know will fit in the book.

By the time I'm ready to sit down and write it, maybe it'll be all done?

We can hope!

Diverted, temporarily

I'm digging in to work on another mystery, so my time travel character may need to wait. I think I'll jot notes for her story this year, then next year, when I need a break from my dystopian series, I'll write her book.

Starting to think Time Travel again

I've been playing around with some notes for another time travel story. Just notes, so far. I have so much else on my plate right now, that's all I can do. I have Paycheck work, edits for a mystery book coming out this year, another mystery I want to write, the Endless American Dream series ...

But I have a character in the back of my mind clamoring for attention. She may see the light of day by the end of the year. Stay tuned!

Checking in -- and out?

I'm working on my Endless American Dream series for most of next year, I think, so I'm not sure when I'll get back to my Time Travel series.

I will return, though -- I have plans!

But check my paranormal site for EAD updates, and check my Mystery site for promotional events -- all my books are going on sale next year, every month a different set.

So get ready to see some promo blitzes from me.

August update

I didn't see any noticeable difference in sales based on Good Reads, so I've sort of let that drop. In fact, ::sigh::, I've let most of promo drop. I just don't have the energy for it. When I have a new book coming out, I will, I promise, but until then ... it's so nice to just write for a change (and do the million other things I do in the course of a day).

What is the magic bullet? Is there one? Or is it all just luck?

I'm not going to sweat it, I guess. Success is out of my hands in a lot of ways, so I'll focus on what I can do: write the books I love to write.

And keep on plugging away.

Mulling over time travel romances

I'm going to do a Good Reads giveaway, I think. for one of my time travel books. Haven't really decided yet if I'll do that one or another mystery.

I'm not sure if Good Reads is a useful way to spend my precious free time, of which I have so little. But this year is the Year of Promotional Experiments, so I'm giving it a shot.

I do want to return to my History Patrol series, but that might have to wait until I'm done with Paycheck Work. There are only so many hours in the day. On the other hand, I may wrap up my mystery series this year and next year turn to the History Patrol.

Talk about time travel!

Has it really been 2 years since I posted here last?

Yikes.

If you look at the main web page you'll see I've been busy, but just not busy with time travel. Right now I'm working on 2 mysteries (at the same time. yes), plus last year I wrote 2 or 3 books. Can't remember how many.

This year I want to write the 2 mysteries then write at least one more book in my Endless American Dream series. I have 4 done, I'd like to get book 5 finished, get a good start on book 6 (at least map it out), then start thinking about Volume 3 (books 7-9).

So I haven't had any time (there's that pun again) to think about time travel. I have 2 books plotted and somewhat blocked out. But I have to get time to do it.

Not this year, but next? Anyway, I'll be better about updating from here on in. [Putting note on my To Do List right now].

Temporarily on vacation here

I've been busy working on a futuristic series, so haven't had a chance to work on any new reincarnation books.

But I have plenty of ideas -- now if I could only get some time (no pun intended, time travelers).

An end of the year look back

This was my first year in self-publishing. I took three old books (Forgiveness, Endurance, and Temperance) and turned them into:

Penance: set in 1876 America. I wrote this book when I was unemployed. I was laid off from my job in August of 2003 and I had an idea for a Western historical novel.

I started researching Jesse James and the Great Northfield Minnesota raid -- and since I lived in Minnesota at the time and only 40 miles from Northfield, it made research easy.

I quickly decided I didn't want to have my characters be historical, though. I wanted them to be modern people in an old-time setting. So I started thinking of a time-travel premise and I came up with the History Patrol (see that tab above for details about the Patrol).

Several drafts later I ended up with Jim and Penelope's story: Penance. I always wanted to call it Penance, but my then-publisher wouldn't let me. When I got the rights back, I renamed it.

 Vengeance: Possibly my favorite book of all the 20-some books I've written.

This started as my vampire book. I wanted to write about someone who was immortal and all that entails -- the heartbreak of watching those you love die, the changes in the world, etc.

But I can't get past the blood-stuff with vampires. Euw. So I came up with an immortality virus. Then I thought, Hey, how about making this a History Patrol book?

It was extremely tricky to plot, but I did it. And I think I succeeded very, very well.

This is the first book I put into print by myself and I'm proud of it.

Compassion: This is my Al Capone book. It appears I like some of those historical villains, right?

I set this one in 1934, at the height of the Great Depression. I researched that era very diligently but my best sources were my mother, aunt, and their friends. Their memories were amazingly vivid of that time period and I gathered a LOT of information from them.

This had a tricky plot as well, because I had to adhere to the rules I set up in the initial books. My History Patrol rules were stretched a bit here.

The editor at my former publisher gave me fits over this book. She nickel-and-dimed me on edits, something that never happened to me before this. I fought back on many of the edits and gave in on others.



In addition to these books, I'm self-publishing a suspense book (Mist) which should release this month.

Lots of work....

I'll do a new blog next week about whether or not it was worth it.

My third time travel book is here ... actually, it released last summer, but I've been traveling and we moved, and we have a lawsuit ... oh, just tedious life stuff.

This is my John Dillinger book, about a woman and man who travel back in time to Dillinger days. It's all about second chances, do-overs, and ... compassion.

Vengeance (formerly "Endurance") is now available on the Kindle and on Smashwords (and on Nook, etc.). This one has a sly dog (see him on the middle banner?), a fantastic hero (Nico), and a great heroine (Lucinda). Check it out!

Sales update

There isn't anything to report: no sales!

I have to admit, I'm a bit surprised. I thought my key words and word of mouth might generate some interest in my book. But it hasn't. So this month, I'll upload another book and I'll look at buying ad space for my books. We'll see if that makes a difference.

Am I disappointed? Somewhat. But this tells me a lot about sales: you have to generate at least some buzz in order to be noticed. Once you're noticed, it becomes self-perpetuating.

Where we are

Have still not sold many copies of Penance without advertising. So...I'm dropping the price on Amazon to .99. We'll see if that generates any sales. Again: no advertising for it. I'm just waiting to see if anything clicks.

In another month I'll upload Vengeance, probably priced at .99. Then a month or two later I'll upload Compassion.

I'm so busy with other things this summer that I'll probably just let them sit there for a while before I purchase ad space. Or maybe I'll buy an ad or two once two books are there.
